After my career as a professional wakeboarder I pursued my childhood dream of becoming a Firefighter. Shortly after achieving a job in the fire service I found CrossFit. My first CrossFit workout was one of the most humbling experiences of my life and that day has improved my life in many different ways. I quickly realized that our community was more than ready for what CrossFit had to offer! Eager to share my life changing experience, I started HXF in my garage with the goal of improving others quality of life. From that moment I have watched our members overcome mental and physical struggles in the gym. Helping our members achieve goals and realize their true potential has been extremely rewarding because I know how it will apply to their lives outside of HXF. I feel very fortunate to be apart of the HXF community and all the great people that I now consider family. With the support from my beautiful wife and daughter I have also competed at the CrossFit Games Regionals in 2013 and 2014. In high school I ran track and field and trained in Krav Maga. After high school I joined the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan during this time I was exposed to CrossFit workouts which were greatly beneficial to my job in the field. This exposed me to the Snatch and Clean and Jerk where I quickly became hooked on the sport of Weightlifting. I got my start training with multiple time national champion Jon North in Charlotte, NC and competed in my first competition. After leaving the army I continued to pursue the sport in CA where I have competed and coached in over 20 local sanctioned and national competitions. I had the opportunity to train under coach Rob Earwicker who has coached and competed internationally. Weightlifting has been my passion for the past 8 years, it is not only a strength sport but a skillful way to display your power that you can always improve at. Since my early law enforcement days, I found myself growing more and more sedentary. I was out of shape, borderline obese, and on the unhealthy side of the wellness curve. It has changed my life in so many positive ways. I am stronger and fitter now than I was in my early 20s. My entire family is onboard. As a graduate of Big Bear High School, I enjoyed playing youth soccer, riding bikes, motorcycles, snow skiing, water skiing, and working out. Big Bear provided the opportunity to live an outdoor, healthy lifestyle. <br> <br>Many family vacations were spent in Lake Havasu, so it was a natural place to retire to. I fell in love with CrossFit when I was the guinea pig for our technique program back in the garage days. I was lying on the floor trying to catch my breath after only a five minute workout wondering what had just happened?!?! I thought at the time that I was pretty fit being a runner and all, but clearly there were some serious gaps in my fitness regimen. After that point I was hooked. CrossFit is something that our entire family enjoys. Our daughter, Marley is also an avid CrossFitter. As a Mother, I cannot think of anything better than being able to raise our daughter in a world where strength is beauty and the focus is on what you can achieve, not what you look like. <br> <br>I feel extremely fortunate to work with such an incredible group of trainers and members at our box.
